Aluminium 6082
Also called: 6082-T6, EN AW-6082, AlSi1MgMn, IS 64430, HE30, aluminium 6082 T6
Aluminium 6082 is a heat-treatable Al-Si-Mg-Mn alloy, the strongest of the common 6000-series alloys and the usual choice in Europe and India (as HE30) for structural and machined aluminium parts. In T6 temper it is very close to 6061.

6082 or 6061?
Very similar in strength and use. 6082 is more common in Europe and India (HE30); 6061 is more common in American drawings. For most machined parts either works; follow the drawing.
Typical uses
- Structural frames and supports
- Machined parts and plates
- Truck bodies, cranes and bridges
- Extruded sections that need strength

Questions
- Is 6082 stronger than 6061?
- Slightly in some product forms; in practice they are close. Choose by what your drawing and suppliers use.
- What is HE30 aluminium?
- The old Indian (and British) name for the alloy now designated 64430 in IS 733, equivalent to 6082.
- Can 6082 be anodised?
- Yes, it anodises well, though 6063 gives a more even decorative finish.
